What Is it?

In 2020, 6 area Houses of Worship came together to participate in a campaign called Love Your Neighbor Knox. The Houses of Worship were of different religions and denominations, but they worked together to share a common message or love and respect for all our neighbors. Over the years, the campaign has grown to encompass many more Houses of Worship across Knoxville.

Typically, Love Your Neighbor takes place in February. After some discussion, some of the participating Houses of Worship decided to have a special “Election Edition” of Love Your Neighbor Knox. In our polarized political climate it is increasingly important to remember that all of our neighbors deserve love and respect. Our goal is to remind Knoxville that we are called to Love our Neighbors across all kinds of divides - including our political ones. Maybe in this season it especially includes our political divides.

Love You Neighbor Knox Special Election Edition will begin Oct 27th with banners and signs placed at participating Houses of Worship. At the worship service closest prior to the election, participating Houses of Worship will share a message of loving our neighbors despite our differences as part of their worship. The Love Your Neighbor banners and signs will remain up for a week after the election. They will serve as a reminder that elections come and go but we remain neighbors for a lifetime. In February of 2025 we will have our regular Love Your Neighbor Knox Campaign. In 2024 that included 19 Houses of Worship. We joined together to share a message of love for neighbors across our differences. In 2024 we also worked with Second Harvest Food Bank to collect over 2000 pounds of food for our neighbors experiencing hunger. Any house of worship in the Knoxville area that is interested in joining should go to www.loveyourneighborknox.org or email info@loveyourneighborknox.org
